Stop deducting carers allowance/ Carers support payment from Universal Credit
Unpaid carers are being pushed into poverty by deductions of Carer’s Allowance from Universal Credit. If a carer earned £83.30 from work it would not be deducted, yet carers are penalised for providing essential unpaid care.
The government must stop deducting Carer’s Allowance and Carer Support Payment from Universal Credit. Unpaid carers should be treated fairly and not penalised for providing essential care. Ending these deductions would reduce poverty and recognise the vital role carers play
