Make domestic battery installations mandatory for new homes under the FHS
Please do not cave-in to pressure from housebuilders to increase their profits and back down from making it mandatory from them to install domestic batteries for new homes under the new Future Homes Standard soon to be adopted.
Batteries are absolutely cruicial to maximising benefits to home owners/renters of low carbon energy efficient systems with solar PV, heat pumps and building insultation. Without a battery installation, the full energy efficiency savings of £1350/year (3 bed home) will not be realised to help people combat the cost-of-living crisis. Taxpayers/consumers will instead need to pay more to deliver the equivalent of two nuclear power stations in new electricity generating capacity. Please stand firm!
