Add screening for SMA type 1 to routine Newborn blood spot test in England to promote early access to treatment to avoid severe disability or death.

Additional Information

For Screening for SMA Type 1 to be added to the newborn screening programme in England to be completed on day 5-8 days of age (Already added to Scotlands screening programme).
Early detection and treatment is essential to avoid severe disability and death - The time in which this condition is not detected has direct and severe consequences to long term outcomes and prognosis.
