Petition Action

Implement a rent cap on private rents matching the LHA to reduce overcrowding

Petition Details

There are hundreds if not thousands of people who are currently in private renting sector not able to afford the extra costs on top of the LHA due to lack of social housing. Some severely overcrowded.

Additional Information

I would like the government to implement a rent cap on private landlords matching the local housing allowance rates. Introducing a rent cap linked to Local Housing Allowance could prevent landlords from overcharging and help ensure that families, particularly larger households, can access safe, suitable and affordable homes without financial hardship.
