Petition Action

Allocate share of per-pupil education funding to support home-educated children

Petition Details

We believe home-ed families should receive a share of per-pupil funding to support resources as home-ed children are entitled to a suitable education, yet families currently receive no direct funding, despite the state saving thousands of pounds when a child is educated outside the school system.

Additional Information

Home-ed families must fund all educational materials, exam fees, group learning spaces, and enrichment activities themselves. Many home-ed children benefit from shared learning environments, such as home ed groups, co-operatives, and community classes.

We ask the Government to introduce a fair, accountable funding mechanism, such as:
Education grants or vouchers for registered home-educated children. Proportionate per-pupil funding that follows the child, not the institutions.
