Establish a UK Standard for the Humane Slaughter and Labelling of Farm Animals.
We are calling on the UK Government to introduce a clear, legally defined national standard for the humane slaughter of farm animals, and to require transparent labelling on all meat sold in the UK.
This petition aims to improve animal welfare, ensure honest consumer information, and create a fair, consistent standard for all meat sold in the UK. Only with Government support and legislation can the UK public have confidence in the animal meat they are buying was humanely slaughtered with the welfare of the animal taking priority.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
In respect of UK-slaughtered meat this is generally already happening - in respect of non-stun slaughtered animals we already have petitions open on this (at the link below). The petition was also unclear as to whether you might in fact be referring to meat slaughtered abroad.
