Make British politics compulsory in the secondary school curriculum

Petition Details

British politics should be compulsory in secondary school to help prepare young people for the responsibility of voting in elections. The fundamentals of British politics and how to vote: we think these things which are lacking in the British education system.

Additional Information

We think teaching the fundamentals of British politics and how to vote are vital to producing informed voters. We would like every young person to learn, as a compulsory part of the curriculum, the basics of British politics and how to vote. These materials already exist as part of the resources from the UK parliament education department. Government intervention could ensure the consistency of experience and understanding of British politics across Britain for all future voters.
