Negotiate exemption to the 90/180 Schengen travel rule for professional drivers

Petition Details

We call on the UK Government to negotiate an exemption from the Schengen 90 days in any 180-day period rule for UK professional drivers, including HGV (lorry) drivers and PCV (coach and bus) drivers, when travelling for work purposes.

Additional Information

UK professional drivers regularly need to enter EU and Schengen countries to carry out essential transport services such as freight haulage, international coach travel, and tourism operations. The current 90/180 rule was designed for tourists and short-term visitors, not workers who cross borders as part of their job, specifically for licensed professional drivers travelling for commercial and work-related purposes only, with appropriate documentation.
