Protect Our Right to Vote: Ban the Postponement of Elections
Introduce a UK Constitution of Democracy to guarantee the public’s right to vote and prohibit the postponement of elections, ensuring no elected officials can extend their terms or delay democratic accountability under any circumstances.
Democracy relies on regular, guaranteed elections. When elections can be postponed by law, voting becomes a privilege rather than a right. Delaying elections allows elected officials to remain in power without renewed consent, weakening public trust and accountability. A Constitution of Democracy would protect voters by making the right to vote absolute and preventing future erosion of democratic rights.
