Create an Education Travel Tax Relief scheme to offset peak holiday costs
Create a tax-relief framework (like 'Cycle to Work') where travel providers receive tax credits for offering capped 'Term-Time Equivalent' pricing to state education staff. Additionally, launch a review into the affordability of travel for education staff at peak times.
State school staff are uniquely penalised by their contracts, which forbid term-time leave. We feel that travel companies exploit this captive market, charging premiums compared to term-time prices.
This can act as a de facto pay cut for public servants.
With the current recruitment and retention crisis in education, pricing staff out of affordable rest is unsustainable. If the Government cannot raise wages, it must intervene to lower the cost of living for those serving our schools.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
