Petition Action

Do not implement a social media ban

Petition Details

Refuse to implement a social media ban on any social media platforms in the uk.

Additional Information

I think this is an applicable reason as some ways of accessing social media is harmless to children, and certain platforms like capcut and youtube only have relatively no impact on children, however, some, like reddit, should be banned. Also, alternative verification methods for example, ID verification or facial verification are prone to data leaks, and if children are verifying, then pictures of childrens ID's and faces can enter the internet.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

You may wish to sign this petition, which calls for similar action: "Do not ban social media for under 16s" petition.parliament.uk/petitions/757233
