Enforce Meaningful Sentences for Animal Cruelty, Abuse and Negligence in the UK

Petition Details

To introduce longer more severe and mandatory sentences for animal cruelty, abuse, and any neglect, currently the penalties given do not reflect the severity of harm inflicted on animals. Many cases result in minimum sentences that fail to deliver justice for animals who cannot speak for themselves

Additional Information

I want people to take action and accountability because neglect abuse and cruelty occur far too often, yet the punishment given don’t reflect on the severity of the harm caused.
Very often animals who receive neglect, abuse or cruelty, the impact is prolonged and irreversible. Research and case outcomes repeatedly show that individuals convicted of animal abuse often reoffend when penalties are weak or when ownership bans aren’t long or effective enough. Stronger sentences would protect animals
