Stamp duty, on the sale of a house, should be borne by the vendor not the purchaser.

Additional Information

I request that stamp duty on the sale of a house be paid by the vendor not the purchaser.

This change ensures that first-time buyers do not have to find the funds for stamp duty as well as finding the cost of the property.

This method of payment of taxes is familiar as it is the way VAT is applied.

Vendors will always have the means to pay the duty as the will have the funds from the sale of their house.

The Treasury will receive the same revenue as it does now.
