Petition Action

Issue immediate travel warning for the USA due to human rights concerns

Petition Details

Human rights must be applied consistently, or they cease to have meaning. The United States should not be exempt due to its political influence or alliance status

Additional Information

The United Kingdom has a stated foreign-policy commitment to upholding human rights and has historically taken the position that it should not maintain uncritical alliances with states that fail to adhere to those principles. We think the US, through the documented actions of ICE and related agencies, is currently falling short of internationally recognised human-rights standards, including the right to life, freedom from arbitrary detention, and protection from cruel or degrading treatment.
