Add a 20% deposit to takeaway food & drink to pay for the clean up of litter.

The escalating levels of litter on roadsides and countryside is ruining the beauty of our environment. Despite the efforts of local councils, they lack the funding to address this issue and the problem is worsening.
Our country is at risk of being overwhelmed by the vast amounts of waste from takeaway packaging. This is not just an eyesore but a threat to our natural habitat, wildlife, and the overall health of our environment. It's time for us to take proactive steps to keep our nation clean.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We are not clear whether you want a 20% surcharge on takeaway food to be used for clear-up or an actual deposit worth 20% of the value of the purchase which can be reclaimed if the takeaway packaging is returned (which is what a deposit usually means - something reclaimable).
We suggest you may wish to resubmit your petition making this clearer.
