Require community-based recruitment in public services using national statistics
We want the Government to introduce a national framework for community-based recruitment across public services, including schools, NHS, councils, and other public-sector bodies, based on official national and local statistics.
Using nationally recognised data—such as census, labour market, and demographic statistics—would ensure community-based recruitment is fair, transparent, and evidence-led.
Aligning recruitment with local population data can improve representation, public trust, safeguarding in schools, service effectiveness, and workforce stability, while creating local employment opportunities without undermining merit-based selection.
