Implement a national education framework to help students affected by cancer
I want Government support to address a serious, overlooked gap in our education system: the lack of a consistent national policy to protect the educational outcomes of 14-24 year olds diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is treated as an individual problem while COVID was treated as a collective emergency.
Currently there is no right to alternative assessment, no national framework for education continuity during cancer treatment, and no automatic protection of future progression in the education system. Fighting cancer should not forfeit an education. Implement a national policy allowing teacher-assessed/predicted grades for students undergoing cancer treatment; this will safeguard education & health simultaneously.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
