Subtitles in Cinema: An Essential Accessibility Feature

Petition Details

We call on the Government and Parliament to make subtitles mandatory for all movies shown in cinemas. Subtitles are essential for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, non-native language speakers, and many others. Access to cinema should be inclusive and equal for everyone.

Additional Information

We ask the government and parliament to act because only they can guarantee equal access to cinema for everyone. Subtitles are essential for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people and others who rely on them, yet availability is inconsistent and depends on individual cinemas. We believe accessibility is a human rights issue, not a choice. Government action can set national standards, ensure fairness, and prevent exclusion from cultural life.
