Petition Action

Review GP training and diagnostic guidance for gut-related conditions

Petition Details

Require a review of GP training, ongoing certification, and diagnostic guidance to ensure modern, evidence-based assessment of gut, microbiome, and related systemic conditions, including appropriate referral and testing pathways within primary care.

Additional Information

Peer-reviewed research increasingly links gut microbiome imbalance, bile dysfunction, histamine intolerance, and hormonal stress markers to chronic symptoms. However, GP diagnostics often rely on limited testing. Updating training and guidance to reflect current evidence would improve early detection, reduce chronic illness burden, and lower long-term NHS costs.
