Petition Action

Review and strengthen enforcement of welfare laws for animals in street begging

Petition Details

We want the UK Government to review and strengthen enforcement of animal welfare laws by supporting routine checks and microchip scanning of dogs used for begging, and giving authorities powers to remove animals at risk of fear, distress or exploitation.

Additional Information

We want the Government to strengthen enforcement of animal welfare laws by supporting routine welfare checks and compulsory microchip scanning of dogs used in street begging. Clear guidance should allow authorities and the SSPCA to remove animals where there is evidence of fear, distress or exploitation, even if physical injury is not visible
