Make It Law: Donors Have the Right to Know Where Their Charity Money Goes
We give £5, £10, or £50 believing our money is helping someone in need — feeding families, supporting the homeless etc.
But most donors never actually know where their money goes.
How much reaches the cause?
How much goes to administration?
How much is spent on salaries and marketing?
We are calling on the UK Government and the Charity Commission to introduce a law that requires:
• A clear spending breakdown for all registered charities
• Percentages showing how much goes to the cause vs admin and salaries
• Simple, plain-English reporting that donors can easily understand
Transparency builds trust.
Trust increases donations.
And more money reaches the people who truly need it.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Guidance from the Charity Commission states that charities are required to produce an annual report, a set of accounts and submit an annual return to the Charity Commission.
All charities must keep accounting records, and prepare annual accounts which must be made available to the public on request.
