Fund £10,000 armed forces funeral grants & pension inheritance rules

Petition Details

We believe veterans who serve for decades deserve dignity and pension protections like some other pensions. Many don't receive death payments to help with funeral support and often pensions can’t pass to dependent adult children, leaving families insecure and reliant on charities.

Additional Information

We feel this is out of step with some other pensions in the Civil Service, NHS, and private sector. We urge the Government to fund an automatic £10,000 funeral grant for deceased armed forces pensioners and reform rules to expand inheritance rights, so veterans can leave their remaining pensions to their dependent adult children. This could provide dignity in death, reduce charity reliance, improve fairness, and modernise rules and align military schemes with other schemes.
