Petition Action

Allow humanitarian medal to be awarded retrospectively

Petition Details

We would like the operating principles of the Humanitarian Aid Medal to be amended so that it can be awarded retrospectively, so that it could be awarded to those involved in Operation Rescript the military operation to provide support during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Additional Information

In our view, the Covid-19 pandemic crisis is an obvious and extreme example, of the selfless commitment made by the armed forces when called upon, with many having worked in unfamiliar, potentially dangerous circumstances, sacrificing personal freedoms to support civil authorities and serve the public. We believe these efforts should be formally recognised by the public and state in the form of a medal.
