Ban Police sharing footage obtained by police, for commercial purposes

Petition Details

We want police forces to be banned from sharing recorded footage such as bodycam footage, with companies which use it for commercial gain. We believe that such footage should only be used and shared for law enforcement.

Additional Information

I want the Government to restrict UK police forces from releasing bodycam footage to companies for commercial gain. For example, a police force recently released footage to an entertainment streaming platform which was used to produce a documentary, which in my view does raise some concerns over potential privacy infringement and exploitation. Footage should only be used for law enforcement purposes, ensuring transparency and protecting individuals' rights.
