Petition Action

Automatic Visa Revocation Triggered by Any Evidence of Benefits Fraud

Petition Details

Immediately cancel any UK visa with evidence or reasonable suspicion of benefits fraud, without a criminal conviction. Benefits fraud wastes public funds, undermines public trust, and damages confidence in the immigration system; permission to remain should be withdrawn in the public interest.

Additional Information

A tenant on a settlement visa claimed she was waiting for Universal Credit, while spending the rent allowance they gave frivolously. The council failed to disclose she also received £3,200 in a discretionary payment to cover the 'late rent'. By the time I arranged direct payments and eviction proceedings, her rent arrears exceeded £6,000, now Universal Credit pays only £40/month. She claims high levels of UC due to a newborn and has student loans. The generosity of this country is being abused.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do as most visa holders are already restricted from welfare benefits, public housing, and homelessness assistance under "no recourse to public funds", unless they have Indefinite Leave to Remain / settlement.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do in relation to welfare benefits fraud.
