Stop accommodating asylum seekers in ex-military camps in local communities
The current practice and policy of using ex-military camps in local communities is causing increasing pressure on local communities. In at least one case an asylum seeker has absconded after a serious sexual offence. Asylum seekers are unvetted and such a practice is high risk to vulnerable groups.
The placement policy needs urgent action. It appears that asylum seekers are ‘bussed in’ on entry to Uk, to any of a number of such camps. With the potential mass increase as border pressures themselves are susceptible to open penetration the continued use of this policy needs ceasing. Apart from single cases of absconding, in general the home office own data suggests that it is not possible to keep asylum seekers in any location local communities of families and vulnerable groups need safety.
