Review & Regulate Veterinary Care so it's Affordable & Accessible
Government action is urgently needed to review and regulate veterinary pricing, improve transparency, and explore measures such as fee caps, subsidies, or support schemes, so that essential animal healthcare remains accessible and preventable animal suffering and loss can be reduced.
Veterinary fees have risen to unsustainable levels, pushing pet ownership beyond the reach of many responsible owners and creating a growing animal welfare crisis. The cost of routine and emergency care now far exceeds what many households can afford, even though pets play a vital role in family life and mental wellbeing. As a result, increasing numbers of animals are surrendered to shelters or euthanised solely due to unaffordable veterinary costs, not because they are unwanted or neglected.
