Make NDAs void if used to cover up trafficking or high-level corruption
Introduce legislation making confidentiality clauses unenforceable if used to hide crimes, including trafficking and exploitation. We also want a statutory Whistleblower Reward & Protection Fund to provide financial and legal security for those exposing high-level institutional wrongdoing.
NDAs are being weaponized as ‘hush money’ to shield institutional enablers from criminal liability. Current laws allow powerful organizations to buy silence, preventing patterns of abuse from reaching the police or public. This creates a culture of impunity. We need a ‘Truth over NDAs’ policy that ensures no contract can obstruct justice. Furthermore, whistleblowers often face career ruin; a dedicated fund is essential to protect those who act in the public interest.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Your petition is about something that the Northern Ireland Executive and Northern Ireland Assembly is responsible for in Northern Ireland. If you want action in Northern Ireland you could contact your MLA, or raise it with the Northern Ireland Executive.

In England and Wales Section 17 of the Victims and Prisoners Act 2024, provides that NDAs cannot validly prevent a victim of crime from reporting the crime to the police or other law enforcement agencies. If you wanted to submit a petition relating to England and Wales you would need to explain clearly how it would differ from the existing law.
