Ban the sale of Paan on health and environmental grounds
Pan masala is a toxic mix of areca nut and lime that is directly linked to oral cancer and mouth disease. It is often sold as a freshener, but its use can lead to addiction and a hazardous "red spit" habit. A national ban is vital to protect UK citizens and reduce the growing burden on our NHS.
Beyond health, the habit causes massive environmental and financial damage. The "red spit" permanently stains pavements and buildings, requiring councils to spend thousands of pounds on specialist high-pressure cleaning. This is a direct waste of taxpayer money that should fund schools or social care. We believe a government ban is the only way to stop this biohazardous littering at the source, ensuring our public spaces remain clean and that local council budgets are protected from these avoidable costs
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
