Abolish interest on university tuition fees and maintenance loans in England.

Petition Details

We call on the Government to abolish interest on university tuition fees and maintenance loans in England. Charging interest disproportionately targets working-class students who rely on loans to access higher education, deepening inequality and entrenching classism in our education system.

Additional Information

Abolishing interest on university tuition fees and maintenance loans is necessary to ensure higher education is fair and accessible. Interest inflates debt far beyond what students borrow, creating long-term financial pressure that discourages participation and limits social mobility. Removing interest would make repayment fairer, reduce inequality, and support economic stability in England.
