Petition Action

Change the law to give pedestrians priority at unmarked crossings

Petition Details

Change the law so pedestrians have clear legal priority at unmarked crossings, including dropped kerbs and pedestrian islands, wherever crossing infrastructure exists, including at side roads and in residential and urban areas.

Additional Information

Many crossings are clearly designed for pedestrian use but lack zebra markings, meaning drivers often do not stop. This can create unsafe and confusing situations and make pedestrian priority feel optional. We believe where crossing infrastructure exists, pedestrians must have priority by default, especially in busy urban and residential areas, including near parks and schools.
