Ban AI translation

Petition Details

Ban AI translation applications. Highly trained and qualified translators are losing pay and even their jobs due to the rise of AI translation, despite humans accurately translating language and culture-specific nuances which machines cannot fully grasp.

Additional Information

The amount of jobs available for translators is rapidly decreasing, and those which are available are mostly post-editing, which takes the same amount of time or longer, often for less pay. We feel this is an unnecessary threat to a crucial industry which helps connect people across the globe. Furthermore, AI produces lower-quality translations, resulting in the purpose and meaning of source texts being inaccurately conveyed. This can be damaging for the creator of the source text as well as the target audience.
