Introduce guidelines for disclosure photos of criminals

Petition Details

We call on the Government to introduce new guidelines regarding disclosure of photos of criminals used by the police to disclose an image of a criminal to a victim of crime or their families.

Additional Information

We want disclosure photos to be recent and feature the criminal with a plain expression and mouth no smirking or smiling to not upset the victims and/or the families of victims of serious crimes.

We believe that by taking updated photographs of offenders while they are incarcerated prior to be released where the Prison Service, Parole Board minimise the impact of traumatises victims and their families prior to release. New guidelines could ensure victims not be handed additional trauma
