Require schools to record and report SEND pupils placed in behaviour rooms.
Require all schools and academies to record and report data on SEND pupils who are removed from lessons or placed in behaviour rooms or internal exclusion, including how often this occurs, how long pupils are removed, and what support or reasonable adjustments were attempted first.
Many children with SEND, including those with ADHD and autism, are regularly removed from lessons and placed in behaviour rooms instead of being supported. There is currently no national requirement to record this data, meaning pupils can spend significant time out of education without visibility or accountability. Recording this information would help identify patterns, safeguard children’s mental health, and ensure support is provided rather than punishment.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
According to statutory guidance from the Department for Education, governing bodies of maintained schools and the proprietors of other schools already must
ensure that a procedure is in place for recording each seclusion or restraint incident as part of the school’s duty under the Schools (Recording and Reporting of Seclusion and Restraint) (No. 2) (England) Regulations 2025.
This must be recorded and reported.
