More South Asian representation in mainstream football in UK - players and staff
The driving force being clubs and local areas where they are the majority. The stating point; talks in schools and South Asians sharing their stories to inspire the next generation. It is imperative to develop and mentor people until age 16/17 so they are able to sign professional contracts.
South Asians are the largest ethnicity minority group in the UK (COPA90), although this is not reflected amongst staff (including presenters), players - or on TV. The talent is there but is overlooked, often opportunities not being available. Over the last few years it has been highlighted but no plans of tackling it or changes made. More involvement and investment needed. This petition would also give hope to finding the first South Asian Lioness too. You can only be something if you see it.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.
We understand that you would like to see more South Asian representation in football but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. Players can already visit schools to share their experiences, if that's something they would like to do.
You could start a new petition setting out clear actions that are within the responsibility of Parliament or Government.
