Petition Action

Review Existing and Proposed Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) Schemes

Petition Details

Conduct an independent review of existing and planned LTNs to assess their impact on congestion, emissions, local businesses and all residents. Require transparent consultation, proper impact assessments and consideration of alternative safety measures before further schemes are approved.

Additional Information

Many LTNs appear to displace traffic onto main roads, increasing congestion and potentially raising emissions in those areas. Not everyone can rely on public transport due to cost, reliability, work or caring responsibilities. Some residents and businesses report reduced accessibility. A national, evidence-based review would ensure policies are proportionate, fair and effective before expanding further schemes.
