End repeated pothole patching and resurface failing roads
Require councils to resurface roads where temporary pothole repairs repeatedly fail. Ringfence funding for long-term resurfacing instead of repeated short-term patchwork in the same locations, and enforce accountability for persistent road defects.
Road conditions across Britain have deteriorated badly. The same potholes are filled again and again, only to fail within weeks, wasting public money and putting drivers, cyclists and pedestrians at risk. Residents report defects but see no lasting fix. Repeated patching is not cost-effective. Proper resurfacing saves money long term and restores safety and confidence in our infrastructure.
