Fund state support for young people aged 18-25 who leave the care system
We believe care should not end at 18. Each year, over 10,000 young people leave care in England and are pushed into independence without family support. We call for funding for extended supported accommodation, financial support, and long-term mental health care so no care leaver struggles alone.
The Government should act because we believe the state is the corporate parent to children in care. We feel support should not end at 18 when most young people still rely on family. Without extended supported living, financial help, and mental health support, care leavers could face higher risks of homelessness, unemployment, and poor wellbeing. We believe the UK is about fairness, stability, and preventing long-term social and economic costs.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
