Petition Action

Only reduce sentence for early admission of guilt if given at police interview

Petition Details

Abolish the reduction of a defendant's sentence for entering a guilty plea, if they did not admit their guilt at police interview or equivalent. Currently a defendant can wait to see if police will have enough evidence to convict before they admit guilt. We think this is immoral.

Additional Information

Abolish a person's reward of a reduced sentence unless their admission of guilt is given at police interview or equivalent. Currently criminals have the power to deny guilt or remain silent until evidence is irrefutable, then they can enter a guilty plea and reduce their sentence. We believe this removes all morality and remorse and lets the criminal strategically decide when to enter a guilty plea to best benefit them. Build prisons if there is no room stop rewarding them.
