Provide more funding for 3G pitches up and down the country.
We want the Government to fund and support a national programme to build more affordable 3G pitches, set regional targets, simplify planning, and protect grassroots access. This would reduce match cancellations, improve player development, and create sustainable revenue for councils and clubs.
Poor weather and bad pitches are causing constant match cancellations, with some teams playing only a few games all year. Grassroots football is falling behind Europe due to lack of facilities, while councils raise pitch fees despite worsening conditions. More 3G pitches would keep football running year-round, improve player development, and generate income through community hire, benefiting clubs, councils, and local communities.
