Petition Action

Review NHS BCG eligibility to protect infants of frontline TB-exposed workers

Petition Details

We call on the UK Government and NHS England to urgently review and amend the current eligibility criteria for the BCG vaccination for infants, to include children of frontline public service workers who are at increased occupational risk of tuberculosis (TB) exposure.

Additional Information

Review and amend the current NHS BCG vaccination eligibility criteria for infants in the UK.

Consider parental occupational exposure to TB as a valid risk factor when assessing eligibility for infant BCG vaccination.

Provide clear guidance enabling clinical discretion to offer BCG vaccination to infants living in households where parents are employed in high-risk frontline roles.

Ensure consistent national implementation of revised criteria where occupational risk is identified.
