Do not ban or restrict VPNs and undermine citizens privacy and security.
Requiring ID to access VPNs creates serious security risks by forcing providers to store sensitive personal data, creating targets for hackers. Criminals will bypass restrictions, while law-abiding citizens lose privacy and protection. Do not weaken digital security.
Numerous privacy-preserving solutions exist that can protect children without mandating ID checks or weakening encryption. Experts have outlined workable, proportionate approaches, yet these are being overlooked in favour of broad measures that risk mass data collection. Parliament should pursue targeted, evidence-led safeguards rather than policies that undermine security for everyone.
