I would like to petition for all teachers in uk schools to be SEN trained.
I would like it to be part of the mandatory training for teachers to be trained in basic SEN skills and training to help cope with overwhelming growing pressure of SEN children.
As a parent to a neurodivergent child, I believe strongly that all teachers should have basic SEN training in how to handle children in mainstream school that have special educational needs. The growing numbers of SEN children in the uk is at an all time high and trained specialists are few and far between. By making SEN training part of the curriculum we could reduce pressure on not only staff but on families of SEN children giving them peace of mind that their children are in good care.
