Reform & review Higher Education funding and admission policies
Evidence suggests that Universities are in crisis and we believe it's the responsibility of the Government to fix it. We're calling for increases in government grant funding to Universities, a reintroduction of student number caps and a review of restrictive immigration policies.
Further evidence suggests as many as 70% of UK universities are experiencing serious financial strain, heading into deficit in 2025-26, while there have been more than 4,000 course closures since 2024 and13,300 job cuts in 2024-25 alone. Students and staff are bearing the weight of government decisions. Universities are reporting deficits, shutting down campuses, and confronting the very real threat of closure. We need to act now to prevent further redundancies, protect local economies and defend choice and opportunity for students.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
