Create a mandatory, publicly accessible register of qualified accountants and tax agents. The register should enable individuals and businesses to verify qualifications, professional body membership and AML supervision. We believe it will improve transparency and reduce fraud and misrepresentation.

Additional Information

The title "accountant" is not legally protected in the UK, allowing some unqualified individuals to offer services. This can expose clients to errors, penalties, and financial loss, and can undermine the tax system. We believe a public register would help improve transparency, protect consumers, support compliance with HMRC, and reduce fraud and misrepresentation.
