Commission review of Motability affordability
The Government should commission an independent review of Motability affordability and publish five-year data on vehicle availability, Advance Payments, and PIP mobility rates. We want it to introduce safeguards to prevent any exploitative affordability outcomes.
More vehicles now require the full PIP mobility allowance, and can often come with significant Advance Payments. Upcoming tax changes from July 2026 may increase costs further. Where disabled people must surrender the entirety of a disability benefit to access essential mobility, we are concerned this could risk exploitative outcomes in effect. We believe greater transparency and affordability safeguards are needed to protect the real value of disability benefits and ensure long-term fairness.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
