Petition Details

I respectfully call upon the UK Government to: Amend fish labelling regulations to require species-level disclosure for fishmeal and fish oil products. Require labelling of: All marine species included in feed products, Source type (by-product vs whole wild catch).

Additional Information

It concerns marine biodiversity, responsible consumer choice. Krill sustain whales, penguins, seabirds, seals as an example, Beyond their ecological role as prey, krill contribute to ocean carbon cycling, while phytoplankton are responsible for 50% of global oxygen production. At any one level can have consequences throughout the food web. For these reasons, I respectfully urge support for this petition to ensure clearer labelling and greater accountability within the aquaculture supply chain.
