This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We understand that you're concerned about knife crime but we're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do to make communities safer.

Knife crime is already included in the curriculum in the Government's statutory guidance to schools on RSE and health education. You can read about what's included on page 31 under 'personal safety' and page 28 under 'wellbeing online': www.gov.uk/government/publications/relationships-education-relationships-and-sex-education-rse-and-health-education

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do, or you may wish to sign one of the following petitions:

"Introduce 5yr Minimum Sentence for unlawfully carrying a Knife 3yrs Juveniles"
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/753568

"Mandate whole-life sentence for knife-related murders & stricter penalties"
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/755213

"Require that photo ID and fingerprints are taken prior to the purchase of knives"
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/742878

"Increase minimum sentences for knife crimes including possession and use"
petition.parliament.uk/petitions/746123

If you're concerned about knife crime in your area, you could talk to a teacher, parent or trusted adult. You could ask your school what additional guidance and support they can offer to pupils.
