Fund paid placement or bursaries for medical students and improve conditions
Fund paid placements or bursaries (like for some other allied health students), for medical students, as well as funded travel and accommodation during their placements. We also call on the NHS to set minimum standards for safe rota limits including protected rest, and fund mental health support.
Medical students are the future of the NHS, yet many are experiencing financial strain and burnout during compulsory placements. We believe long hours and unpaid frontline responsibilities, along with rising living costs and existing student debt, can harm students’ mental health. Poor mental health puts patients at risk. Supporting us now is an investment to NHS workforce and the communities that rely on it, and we think it will help address shortages by showing appreciation now to keep us on further down the line.
