Early intervention for overweight children in primary schools
We want the Government to introduce an early-intervention programme for overweight children, starting in primary school.
This should include early-identification of at-risk children, health monitoring, nutritional education, stronger PE provisions, and healthy school dinner programmes.
Children deserve an equal opportunity to grow up healthy. Early intervention is essential and helps prevent long-term health consequences for those at risk. This programme must focus on prevention and support, not stigma/blame. Childhood obesity is rising, especially in deprived areas. Overweight children are more likely to become obese adults, increasing risk of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and poor mental health. Primary school years are a vital window for shaping lifelong healthy habits.
If you want to sign this petition (as opposed to merely discuss it), you need to do that on the government's e-Petitions website.
